I love the photos in Dane’s blog, illustrating the beautiful traditional clothing that folks are still wearing in the Arctic. I think they are very stylish and fashionable, and I just love the way the traditional clothing is an improvement on our modern and high tech stuff. Sometimes wisdom is wisdom. Dane as it turns out, is a fellow Nelsonite having a northern experience, in this case, WAAYYYYYYY north.

I started this blog two days ago, deciding that the topic, ‘weather’, was appropriate for a place that has so much of it! I got side tracked, ironically, by a blizzard! Go figure! So today I am resuming amid clear blue skies with the blizzard a vague memory.
Winter, of course, is a time when weather is often a major factor so the keys to comfort are planning and dressing appropriately. Before I dress for my 5-minute walk to work each morning, I check the weather network to see if there is a blizzard or wind chill warning. The news determines what ‘extras’ I might need to carry or whether I should wait a bit longer before leaving in case I get a call to tell me of an office closure. Last year there were nine!
