Beautiful and Wondrous, With Northern Lights.

This is a great story from CBC News, about a composer creating music under the northern lights of Yellowknife. There is an audio sample on the website too, and I think he has really captured the sensation of their movement.

A wonderful story. The improvisations are different than I would have imagined. I think those of us who’ve not seen the lights imagine them as more delicate and ethereal than they are in person. In any event, if the pianist gets all this on CD, I may have a track for listening to if I ever get to see the lights!

Linda, I hope you do get a chance to see the northern lights some day! Like anything that awes us, they always make me feel small and insignificant, just one part of the grand scheme of life. For some strange reason, this is of great comfort. I get the same feeling from a star filled sky.
