Awesome!
Looks like fun Tandi do you go out and play?
The last time I played hockey my friend broke her wrist. And I needed the stick to hold myself up. I’m not as good a skater as I thought!
cool – but is yours one of the “motley crew of house boats”? 🙂
Well no. It’s true that most of the houseboats near the rink are motley. They are the small, rustic and original floating homes of Yellowknife. There are now some newer ones with all the modern conveniences like running water, toilets and showers and solar lights. (Our place is just like an average condo in that respect.). But we are a ways away from the arena. The most protected spots are all taken now, so we are a ways out in the bay. It’s less protected, but we actually like being a bit off to ourselves. It’s nice and quiet.
What a great thing! I really don’t understand hockey, but I’d much rather watch it outdoors than in an arena, or on television, for heaven’s sake. On the other hand, teevee does provide a blue puck so you can keep track of where it is!
Hockey is an amazing game to watch. At least at the professional level, it’s an compelling psychological study. Brimming with passions – heroism, anger, sacrifice, guys and glory. Throw in youthful vigor versus the wisdom of experience, and the strong yet strange moral code of the players and you’ve got something unique. I think it’s one of the best places to see such primal emotions played out so visibly. It’s like watching a Shakespeare play. I have never played it but I can imagine it would be great fun.
