Winter on Houseboat Bay

I have a bunch of fun photos I’ve taken over the last month or so.  There is no real theme to this post, just some local shots that illustrate the interesting things there are to see here in Houseboat Bay this winter.

Another cute houseboat

Another cute houseboat – I love the motorboat still in the lake

Even cuter houseboat - orange at one end and pink on the other. A cute hipster woman lives here.

Antique thingy

Another I-don’t-know-what, this one surely an antique

Apparently the canoe was too heavy to get out to the lake in the summer!

For beauty? The ice garden. For a great combination of cute and pathos: your wonderful doggie in the last photo. For just slightly weird? The red “thingie” on tracks. But my favorites? The two houseboats. Snugged in, taken to a whole new level!

There is something quite appealing about a small cabin. Especially, as you say, all tucked in for winter. I have a small cabin fantasy that I hope to realize some day. A little Thoreau style cabin in the woods. They are getting harder and harder to come by though.

  3. What gorgeous pink light in these pics. My favourite (of course!) is “contemplative golden retriever”. Could this be the new “Northern Gothic”?

Your blog is beautiful and unique. I’m bowled over by the “Snow King’s ice garden”.

Why thank you Mrs Daffodil. You should read more sbout the Snow King in my spring post from 2013. He builds an entire castle of snow out on the lake and turns it into an art gallery and performing arts centre for the month of March. Its pretty great.

  5. The Ice Garden is magnificent! All your photos are always great. I love the boats still sitting on the ice waiting for the melt.
